Deutsche Post Releases First-Ever Star Trek Stamp for the 60th Anniversary

Deutsche Post Releases First-Ever Star Trek Stamp for the 60th Anniversary
Star Trek philately is officially adding a new major European nation to the collection map!

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Star Trek, Deutsche Post (the German postal service) is issuing its very first official Star Trek stamp in September 2026.

This marks a significant milestone for collectors: it is not only Germany's inaugural Star Trek issue, but also only the second official European postal release following the iconic Royal Mail UK stamps from 2020.

Stamp Overview & Details

  • Issuer: Deutsche Post (Germany)
  • Release Date: 3rdSeptember 2026
  • Face Value: €0.95 (Single Stamp)
  • Format: Available as single stamps or in full sheets of 10
  • Designer: Jan-Niklas Kröger
  • Year of Issue: 2026

Design Highlights

Designed by Jan-Niklas Kröger, the stamp visually captures the classic spirit of Star Trek: The Original Series:
  • USS Enterprise (NCC-1701): Soaring through a colorful nebula backdrop.
  • Famous Catchphrase: overlaying the space scene in German reads "WO NOCH NIE EIN MENSCH GEWESEN IST" ("Where no man has gone before").
  • Anniversary Inscription: A vertical purple panel highlights "60 JAHRE STAR TREK™" alongside the 95 cent denomination.
  • Latin Motto: The lower margin features the phrase "DEUTSCHLAND - SEMPER EXPLORO" (Always Explore), fitting perfectly with Starfleet's core philosophy.
  • Modern Matrix Code: Incorporates a prominent Data Matrix code on the right side, standard for modern German postal stamps.

The decorative border of the 10-stamp sheet features additional branding, including the stylized "STAR TREK 60" logo along the margins and official licensing text (TM & © 2026 CBS. ARR.).

Collector's Thoughts

It is truly exciting to see Germany step onto the Star Trek philately map with such a crisp, modern, yet nostalgic release. While I always hope to see even more postal authorities around the globe join in on key anniversary milestones, every official postal issue is a huge victory and a great reason to celebrate. Whether you grab a single mint copy or a complete sheet of 10 to keep intact, this German issue is a must-have piece of modern Trek postal history!
